US-based IronKey Inc has upped the security of its flash drives even further with the addition of USB anti-worm malware protection capabilities.

With AutoRun worms infecting over 70 million computers in 2008, this technology is designed to bring additional peace of mind to users of IronKey’s flash drives, which the company claims are already the most secure in the world.

The patent-pending technology ensures that AutoRun worms cannot install themselves onto IronKey devices, or spread from the devices onto corporate or other computers.

IronKey devices are managed remotely, and regular, automated security and anti-malware updates are provided over the Internet or corporate network.

The patent pending USB AutoRun anti-worm malware protection is available on IronKey Basic, Personal and Enterprise devices.

Anyone already using one of the devices can remotely update their software and firmware with the added security.

IronKey secure USB flash drives are compatible with Linux, Windows and Macintosh machines, and the devices are available in the UK through the company’s global channel partner program.
