TRENDnet, a California-based manufacturer of wired and wireless networking solutions has announced a new addition to its range of USB adapters.
The TEW-445UB 108Mbps High Power Wireless USB 2.0 adapter incorporates high output power capability and dual band 802.11b/g network compatibility.
The USB 2.0 adapter features an extended cable connected to a high-powered, detachable antenna base which can be easily installed to provide connectivity for desktops and laptops.
It supports high output power up to 23dBM which gives network coverage with less interference at extended ranges. It allows users to connect to a variety of home, business, and 802.11 b/g hotspot locations.
The adapter uses Atheros eXtended Range (XR)® Technology which eliminates deadspots and means that computers can be placed in previously out of range locations.
The adapter is a versatile solution for connecting desktops to a wireless network. While a PCI adapter occupies a fixed location, the TEW-445UB can be placed on a desktop in the optimum position to gain maximum signal reception. It is also simpler to install than a PCI adapter.
It can achieve a range which previously required multiple pieces of equipment to achieve, making it a cost-effective solution.
The adapter has a speed of 108Mbps allowing users to access the Internet, download large files, or share multimedia content such as music and videos. It is distributed with Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM™) Quality of Service, which enables users to stream video and make VoIP calls with clarity, and prioritize traffic based on their needs.
In order to ensure wireless networking security, the adapter features WPA/WPA2 and advanced WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryption.
The TEW-445UB will begin shipping at a U.S. Average Selling Price (ASP) of $72.00 (USD).
