The USB 3.0 Promoter Group - www.usb.org/usb30 - is seeking additional contributors to the initial draft of its industry specification.

The group aims to complete the spec by the first half of 2008 and is seeking USB Implementers Forum members in good standing, to join its contributors. The company would be required to sign a USB 3.0 contributor agreement.

New contributors will be given access to the current draft of the specification and will be able to add comments to the site.

The specification will be reviewed with contributors at a meeting in Las Vegas on 14 - 15 January.

The USB 3.0 specification will be backward-compatible and will deliver over 10 times the speed of its predecessors. The spec will also be optimised for lower power and improved protocol efficiency.

The USB 3.0 Promoter Group includes HP, Intel Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, NEC Corporation, NXP Semiconductors and Texas Instruments Incorporated.
