LaCie has boosted its range of rugged hard disks with a 500GB version.

The portable device comprises a 500GB Hitachi Travelstar 2.5-inch drive, packed inside an aluminium and rubber chassis designed by Neil Poulton.

The aluminium is scratch-resistant and the rubber bumper is designed to absorb shocks, providing safe data storage in challenging environments.

The drive comes as either a USB 2.0 only interface for around £150, or with additional FireWire 400, FireWire 800 interfaces for £203.
