D-Link International is planning to launch a new wireless USB adapter which will allow electronic devices such as computers, printers and televisions, to be connected without the need for cables.
Wireless USB provides greater bandwidth than technologies such as Bluetooth, allowing the transfer of data-intensive applications such as high definition video.
D-Link’s new adapter will be available in the third quarter of 2008 for around $100. The company plans to demonstrate it at the CeBIT computer fair in Hanover from March 4 to 9.
WUSB is a radio-based expansion to the USB standard. Transfer rates vary by distance, with 110 megabits per second possible at up to ten metres.
