Wireless Cables Inc has released the AIRcable Host XR, a USB Bluetooth adapter with a range of up to 30km with professional installation.

AIRcable Host XR has a powerful, highly sensitive Bluetooth transmitter. A standard antenna is included, giving a range of 1KM - a significant improvement on a standard USB Blootooth hub.

However, with a 9dBi omni-directional antenna the device gives a 2Km range, and with an 18dBi directional antenna this goes up to 10Km.

AIRcable Host XR can also be used to extend the range of Bluetooth devices such as cell phones by up to 100 meters.

The AIRcable Host XR connects to a computer via USB and is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux systems.

It has an aluminium case which reduces interference while also increasing sensitivity.

The device can be used with the AIRcable Industrial XR, to provide a scalable solution for the deployment of wireless sensor networks.

The AIRcable Host XR retails for around $129.00.
