SanDisk has launched the Cruzer Contour USB flash drive, providing a combination of speed and style.

The drive features a unique sliding USB connector. The connector is revealed with a sliding mechanism on the top of the drive, eliminating the need for an easy to lose cap.

When the device is connected to a computer, blue LEDs illuminate the word “Cruzer” on the drive’s top.

The drive features a host of pre -loaded software including Skype, CruzerSync for synchronizing files between a PC and the drive, SgnupShield Passwords from Protecteer, and a trial version of anti-virus software.

The secure drive features password protection from U3 and AES hardware encryption, providing peace of mind in case it is lost or stolen.

Cruzer Contour provides a write speed of 18 MB/sec and a read speed of 25 MB/sec. It supports the ReadyBoost feature in Microsoft Windows Vista.

Cruzer Contour is already available in the United States and should launch in Europe in August.

The 4GB model has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $99.99 in the US. The 8GB model has a US MSRP of $189.99.
