Data storage specialist, Verbatim, has launched an external RAID hard disk which can provide two terabytes of storage.

The 3.5-inch disk can be configured as either RAID 0 or RAID 1, depending on the user’s requirements.

The RAID 0 configuration is ideal when storage capacity is paramount, as the disk provides 2TB of space.

This configuration is best used for multi-media and graphics applications, when the eSATA connection can ensure data transfer rates of 3GB/s.

The RAID 1 configuration, on the other hand, divides the hard disk into two drives with 1TB of space on each.

This configuration is ideal when additional security is required, as the data is written to the two drives simultaneously, providing a backup in case one drive fails.
