Security company Gemalto and Lexar Media, a specialist in Flash memory, have launched the Smart Enterprise Guardian, a USB device to protect digital identities and sensitive documents.

Smart Enterprise Guardian is designed to provide secure mobility for small and medium-sized enterprises, allowing employees to securely work in a Windows environment, whatever their location.

The device protects up to 2 GB of data on a USB drive and supports strong authentication, digital signature and file encryption.

No additional software is required to set up the device, which allows users to securely access a company intranet and transfer sensitive files, or send confidential e-mails, from any PC.

The device, which combines secure Flash memory from Lexar, with Gemalto’s .NET smartcard technology, is compatible with many existing IT infrastructures. It helps to simplify management and reduces the total cost of ownership for enterprises.
