Vodafone has launched a 3G data card that makes a fast internet connection accessible for all laptop users.
The ‘Mobile Connect USB modem’ connects via a USB port, allowing users to access 3G broadband without the need for a PC card slot. It costs £49 excluding VAT and is suitable for both Windows and Apple Mac users.
The product is a new version of the 3G broadband data card, designed especially for users of the latest generation of laptops and Apple MacBooks. It provides download speeds of around 1.4Mbps.
The service is available in a number of countries worldwide including the UK, Australia, Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain.
Customers outside of 3G broadband coverage will automatically be able to access the web using Vodafone’s existing 3G and GPRS services.
For Windows users, Mobile Connect software is pre-loaded onto the modem and self-installs the first time the device is connected. Apple MacBooks users are provided with the software on a CD when they purchase the device. For newer MacBooks with Intel processors the software can be download at www.vodafone.co.uk/mobileconnect.
Vodafone’s Mobile Connect USB Modem is powered by the laptop (or PC) with no need for a separate power cable.
