PCProfile, an Australian company, has released USB Auditor to help managers ensure that software audits are up to date and correctly recorded.

USB Auditor is believed to be the world’s 1st USB audit tool and at only 78k, it is also the smallest footprint software auditing tool on the market.

USB Auditor runs from a USB drive and writes the results back to a USB drive, leaving the PC unchanged in status.

It creates CSV software audit files, which are unencrypted and ready for upload into a central database for consolidation with Proof Of Purchase records.

There is no need for database recognition libraries or software identification tables, and there are no annual maintenance fees, compared with other audit tools on the market which incur annual maintenance fees of up to 25% per annum.

USB Auditor is available for Windows based systems in either a USB 1GB drive edition, priced at $175 for a single user, or $120 for a download version (single user) which can be loaded to a USB drive. There are no restriction on how many PCs can be audited.
