Staccato Communications, a specialist in Wireless USB (WUSB), has merged with Artimi, Inc., a developer of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and WUSB software and hardware.
The merged company will operate under the Staccato Communications name.
Staccato has also secured $20 million of equity financing to commercialise products developed by the two companies and to continue the company’s expansion.
Marty Colombatto will remain as Staccato’s chief executive, while Andrew Vought, Artimi’s chief exec will become chief operating officer of the merged entity.
The merger brings together Staccato’s Ripcord2™ 65nm CMOS IC family, the only single-chip solution to be certified in Band Groups 1, 3 and 6 for worldwide operation, and Artimi’s Zero Install™ technology and Wireless USB solutions.
Marty Colombatto said: “As a result of this merger, we now have all the silicon and software assets necessary to the drive the mass adoption of UWB in the largest semiconductor markets that exist today – personal computers (PCs), PC peripherals, consumer electronics and mobile handsets”.
