Gemalto and Utimaco jointly announced a USB device which combines two functionalities at CeBIT 2007.

The ‘Secure Digital Companion‘ device manages network identity credentials and also provides users with additional memory to securely store confidential data.

Data protection technology is supplied by Utimaco, while Gemalto provides the strong authentication software and the personal device.

The device is aimed at businesses who need to provide employees with secure remote access from any location, while protecting portable personal data.

Secure Digital Companion automatically sets up once the device is connected to the PC. Users can securely access their enterprise Intranet through OATH compliant one-time passwords displayed on the device.

The system also implements certificates for digital signature and e-mail confidentiality.
