Belkin has started to ship the ‘Network USB Hub’ (code: F5L009uk), an innovative home and office networking product.

The hub plugs directly into an existing wireless rounter, allowing multiple printers, hard drives and other peripherals to be shared by all the computers on a network. It has five ports, allowing five devices can be shared, but only one user can use a device at any one time.

The hub works by simulating a direct USB connection, making the computer think that peripheral devices are directly attached.

Special caching techniques enable high-speed USB devices to be connected, and allow isochronous transfers at full speed. Some high-speed/high-bandwidth USB devices, including video-transfer applications, are not compatible with the hub.

Belkin’s Network USB Hub costs £79.99 including VAT.
