Electronics innovator, Murata Manufacturing Co Ltd, has announced a series of ceramic resonators, with built-in load capacitors to reduce component count.
The low-profile CSTCE-XT series resonators are designed to save space in USB 2.0 controller IC driver circuits.
They form part of the company’s Ceralock range, and measure just 3.2mm x 1.3mm x 1mm.
The series is designed for USB circuitry, and is suitable for mobile phones, digital cameras, printers, keyboards and other consumer electronics and audio equipment applications.
The resonators provide very high accuracy with an initial tolerance of 250ppm, and a temperature characteristic of just 150ppm. This makes them suitable for replacing quartz devices in many applications.
The CSTCE-XT series does not require any external load capacitors and provides a cost-effective alternative to quartz.
The ceramic resonators are also quicker to start up than their quartz counterparts, and also have better shock resistance than quartz.
The series is available in the frequency range 24 to 27.2/30MHz and operating temperatures are 0C to 70C.
