Verizon Wireless launches global access dongle

Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless carrier in the US has launched a USB stick that will make life easier for mobile broadband users over the pond.
The USB1000 global modem, made by Novatel Wireless, offers a full range of connectivity to get users online wherever they are and whatever network is available, including CDMA/EV-DO Rev. A, GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band HSPA.
All this connectivity does come at a price though – the dongle costs $200 (around £120) on a two year contract, but this can come down to $150 with $50 cashback scheme.
Stay at home types won’t benefit from the dongle, but for international jet setters several data plans are on offer.
$129.99 per month will get you 100MB of data, while $219.99 per month will buy you 200MB.
The dongle is pricy by European standards, but could be useful for travelers who have to switch between CDMA networks in North America and GSM networks elsewhere.
