IOCELL, the Korea-based contentsware specialist has launched the Castella T and the Castella S, which the company claims are the ‘world’s first USB computers’.

The Castella line provides a platform which turns a mobile device, such as a USB flash drive or MP3 player, into a second computer whenever it is plugged into a PC.

Users are also able to store their frequently used software in the Castella device, eliminating the need to carry around a notebook as long as they have access to a compatible PC.

This is pretty much the same as U3’s system which enables custom applications and settings to be loaded onto a flash drive, which can then transform any PC into the user’s home computer.

The Castella line uses the Chip On Board manufacturing process which makes it possible to produce extremely small components.

IOCELL’s Castella device line is available in capacities ranging from 1GB to 4GB. Pricing details have not yet been released.
