Intersil introduces USB 2.0 multiplexer

Permalink: Intersil introduces USB 2.0 multiplexer

Intersil has introduced the ISL54200 USB 2.0 high/full-speed multiplexer suitable for use with MP3s, personal media players, cellphones, PDAs and other digital devices.

The ISL54200 has a wider supply voltage range, higher bandwidth and better insertion loss characteristics than alternative products on the market and provides a flexible, high-performance solution for interfacing USB and non-USB portable devices.

Flexibility is provided by the device’s ability to switch between data sources with different data speeds and signal levels, and to output them through a common connector.

When used inside a portable device such as cellphone, the multiplexer alternately allows chips with high-speed (480Mbps) USB circuitry and chips with lower speed UART or full speed (12Mbps) USB to communicate through a single connector.

This allows access to slower parts of the cellphone product over a common interface.

The ISL54200 also provides first-class performance with its 800MHz of bandwidth and superior RON flatness. Drain on the battery is reduced with 80nanoAmps of quiescent supply current.

The ISL54200 is available in tape-and-reel quantities of 100-1,000 in a 10-lead uTQFN package.
