Vasco Data Security International Inc is making its Digpass 905 card reader available to consumers in the UK and Belgium via retail outlets and online.
The two-factor authentication device protects users from attempted malicious internet fraud when conducting online transactions, bringing banking level security to the consumer.
The Digipass 905 connects to a PC via USB and is ideal for use with applications such as electronic banking, internet and network security and PKI.
The company plans to eventually extend the Digipass for Retail initiative to other countries.
It chose Belgium for the initial launch, because by 2009, every Belgian citizen will be provided with an electronic identity card, with which they will be able to legitimately sign electronic documents or log into their employer’s network.
The Digipass 905 card reader is designed to be easy to use and requires no special expertise.
