O2 and Sierra Wireless have announced the availability of the Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U, a wireless USB modem, on the O2 network in the UK.

The modem is designed for mobile professionals on the move. It provides an always-on Internet connection through the USB port. This means that it is compatible with a wide range of computers.

The modem is easy to configure and has an in-built battery. It works on GPRS and 3G networks, as well as EDGE and HSDPA networks both in the UK and overseas.

Information can be transmitted at speeds of up to 384Kbps with 3G connectivity and up to 53.6Kbps on GPRS.

The wireless modem connects to a PC or laptop with a flip-out USB connector. The computer must be running Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Mac OS X operating systems.

The Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U from O2 is on sale for £120rrp and is available in O2 retail stores and online.
