Sierra Wireless demonstrated its AirCard(R) 885E ExpressCard, a new HSPA mobile broadband modem, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 11 February.

The compact AirCard(R) 885E ExpressCard provides high-speed mobile broadband technology for use worldwide.

It is ideal for people who travel with a laptop with an ExpressCard slot. The modem features a durable, fixed antenna to provide a reliable wireless connection, and includes TRU-Install(TM) software installation to simplify setup.

The AirCard 885E ExpressCard supports tri-band HSPA/UMTS with receive diversity on all three bands, and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM. Data download speeds of up to 7.2 megabits per second are possible and upload speeds of up to 2.0 Mbps.

The modem is compatible with both Windows and Mac notebooks and desktops and provides GPS support. It should be available commercially in mid-2008.
