Ironkey has announced the S200 family of secure USB flash drives, which are the first USB flash drives to have achieved FIPS 140-2, level 3 security validation.

The S200 is designed to protect sensitive date for government and enterprise customer.

Level 3 security means that as well as offering AES 256-bit encryption in CBC mode, the device is tamper-resistant and cannot be disassembled without rendering it inoperable and erasing all plaintext secrets.

The device also offers active anti-malware capabilities in hardware, preventing the spread of malware onto networks, and enhanced management capabilities.

Other features include AutoRun lock-down to protect against worms, read-only mode to prevent malware on infected hosts from infecting IronKey devices, and optional anti-virus/anti-malware scanning, which cleans the devices in the background.

David Jevans, Ironkey’s CEO said:

“We are also releasing a suite of new enterprise remote management capabilities, available over the Internet from the IronKey managed service, or from our enterprise server software that companies can install and operate themselves.”
