USB-rechargeable batteries for phones

UK firm Moixa Energy, which produces USB-chargeable power cells, is extending its product range to include USB-rechargeable battery packs for phone handsets and other portable devices.
Moixa plans to start distributing its first packs designed to power a phone handset in autumn 2007. These will also feature a built-in USB connector to recharge from a PC.
This means that mobile workers will no longer need to carry a phone charger as they will be able to recharge their phone from a laptop. The handset can be charged in the usual way when at home or the office.
As different phone brands and ranges require different batteries, Moixa is working with leading vendors to produce packs for new models. Some handsets will have a Moixa battery as the main power pack, while other vendors plan to offer them as an optional accessory.
