Kingston Technology has developed a hybrid USB drive which includes a memory card reader. DataTraveler Reader features a flip top compartment which accepts a variety of memory cards, effectively increasing its own capacity and eliminating the need to carry around a separate adapter.

The device can read SD, MMC, SDHC, microSD and miniSD cards. An adapter is required though for MMC variants.

The device is simply plugged into a computer and integrated storage shows up as one drive letter while the memory card is displayed as another letter.

The drive is compatible with Vista, XP and Mac OS X. A 1GB edition is priced at $19.99 and a 2GBe at $34.99.

The company plans to release a 4GB edition at the end of March.
