Buffalo Technology has launched its latest MiniStation TurboUSB in the US, a 500-GB portable storage device which connects to a computer via a USB port.
The drive is ideal for people who want to transport data-intensive media such as photos. It allows business people to take high-definition videos and presentations to meetings, wherever their location.
The MiniStation TurboUSB is compatible with Windows operating systems and Mac OS X. It runs at a speed of 5,400 revolutions per minute.
The durable device is fitted with shock-resistant technology to withstand any bumps it sustains in transit.
The drive is suspended between an impact-resistant plastic chassis, and the drive is also surrounded by shock-absorbing material.
Buffalo’s ‘SecureLockWare’ encryption software is included, to prevent unauthorised access to data if the drive is lost or stolen. Automatic backup software for Windows PCs is also included.
The MiniStation TurboUSB is compatible with either USB 2.0 or 1.1, and comes with a wraparound cable for use when traveling.
It has a one-year warranty and sells for around $329 in the USA and is available through the Buffalo Web site.
