Verbatim Corp introduced a 12GB USB hard at the CES show in Las Vegas. The Store ‘n’ Go drive, which weighs just one ounce and is the size of a business card, is based on 1-inch hard drive technology.
The shock-resistant device has a flip-out USB connector and a USB extension cable. It can store up to 12 hours of MPEG-1 video, around 6,000 300-DPI photos, six hours of DVD-quality video or tens of thousands of personal or business documents.
The centre of the drive lights up to indicate that the drive is connected to a computer and in operation, and flashes when data is being transferred to and from the computer.
The drive comes pre-loaded with Mobile Launchpad for downloading applications that can be run directly from the drive. Mobile Launchpad gives users complete access to personal files and data without having to load the content on a guest system.
The Verbatim 12GB Store ‘n’ Go USB Drives will be available in January 2007 for approximately $180.
