Data security provider Rover Technology Fusions has introduced Rover SPARC (Secure Personal Automatic Replication Card), a USB Flash card which provides an automatic backup for electronic files.

The 2GB-capacity card incorporates solid-state Flash memory and IBM’s Tivoli Continuous Data Protection for Files software.

It is designed to provide continuous real-time protection of files and to minimise backup and recovery times.

When the card is inserted into the user’s computer, IBM Tivoli CDP for Files self-installs in the background and pre-configures itself to send copies of the user’s most valuable data to the card.

The software automatically backs up files to a secondary location on the internal hard drive and then to the external USB Flash card, providing two locations for the recovery of lost or corrupted files.

The product is being developed further and future releases will incorporate Rover Sync software which can restore contact lists from lost or stolen Windows mobile devices.

Rover SPARC is available now with a 2GB SPARC priced at $99.95. 4GB and 8GB cards will be available later this year.

After the first year, a minimal annual maintenance fee applies for the software license, upgrades, support and a lifetime warranty against any manufacturer defect.
