SanDisk makes data more secure with its Cruzer Enterprise USB flash drive, which features a new two-factor authentication technology.

Firstly, the Cruzer Enterprise is managed by SanDisk’s Central Management and Control (CMC) server software, which allows an enterprise to provision and monitor all of the drives.

Secondly, the drive features RSA SecurID software tokens for remote and/or mobile network access.

Security is further enhanced with 256-bit AES encryption, and the requirement to set a complex password during the initial setup process.

The SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise flash drive comes in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB storage capacities, with read and write speeds of 24MB/s and 20MB/s.

The company has also announced a version of the drive for Government Agencies and highly regulated industries such as financial services - the Cruzer Enterprise FIPS Edition (Federal Information Processing Standard).

The Cruzer Enterprise FIPS Edition includes a software self-test routine, which runs automatically runs when the drive is used, to verify that the drive’s cryptographic function is intact.

It also provides physical protection for the drive’s internal security module to deter tampering.
