Mandriva, which provides Linux and Open-Source products, technology and services, has introduced a pre-installed Mandriva Linux 2007 distribution on a 2GB USB key.

The Mandriva Flash USB key allows users to take their own Mandriva system anywhere with them. Simply plug in the key to save and exchange data.

Mandriva Linux 2007 includes support, free services, open source software, commercial plugins and proprietary drivers. It features Discovery for beginners, Powerpack for Linux lovers and Powerpack+ for power-users and small and medium businesses

Mandriva 2007 is based on a 2.6.17 Linux kernel. It uses KDE as a default desktop and also supports both the GNOME and Xfce environments.

Mandriva Flash includes comprehensive desktop software, including browsers, email and messaging clients, office productivity suites, graphics and multimedia applications. There is no need to install anything on the hard disk, eliminating any compatibility problems.

Users can save documents and preferences on the key and use all their favourite Internet, multimedia and office applications. Users can also install new software and download updates.

The system includes a number of 3D-related features, including advanced hardware detection and special effects to customise workspaces.

Mandriva Flash comes with a five-year warranty, web support and a one-month trial membership in the Mandriva Silver Level Club. The system is priced at $86, and available from Mandriva’s online store.
