LucidPort Technology’s L800 wireless USB controller has been approved by the WiMedia Alliance as conforming to the WiMedia ultrawideband (UWB) specification.
The L800 is designed to add wireless USB functionality to peripheral devices including printers, scanners, and camcorders.
The controller supports all compliant packet sizes, burst sizes, transfer sizes, and number of endpoints, and manages functions such as beaconing, encryption and association.
The chip uses WiMedia UWB technology to interoperate with other UWB and Certified Wireless USB products at transfer speeds of up to 480Mbit/s.
The L800 is available now in a lead free 108-ball BGA package (11 x 11mm, 0.8mm pitch), priced at US $4.98 for 400,000-units.
A development kit (L800WUSB-RDK) is also available for a one-off price of US $1500.
