Hitachi is marking a new strategy with the launch of branded external and portable USB storage products.

The drives will be sold through Best Buy, a US-based specialty retailer of consumer electronics, personal computers, entertainment software and appliances.

The products will be available in a range of capacities, including a 1-Tbyte version for the external storage drive.

The external storage drive, known as the “easy hard drive,” is also available in 750-Gbyte and 500-Gbyte versions. It includes a USB 2.0 cable, power supply, and pre-installed back up software that will work on both Macs and PCs.

The Portable comes in 250-, 200-, and 160-Gbyte capacities and is powered through a USB cable.
