Yoggie security systems, an Israeli based company has reported a new dynamic version of its pico USB device, a very small, portable, linux based firewall.

After feedback from users, the new firestick pico was born. Bright orange, and no longer featuring extras such as anti-spam, intrusion detection and content filtering, although the original fire walling and kaspersky’s anti virus suite, found on the pico are still present.

Yoggie security systems have stated, the reduced complexity, reduces costs, bringing the original $199 (plus $30 for ongoing subscriptions) price tag, down to $119.

“While our Gatekeeper Pico offloads all security applications from a PC, the Firestick Pico offloads just the firewall functionality at a much lower cost,” said Yoggie founder Shlomo Touboul.

“This allows different levels of security and a range of price points for discerning buyers who are joining the Yoggie revolution: moving security applications from the PC to dedicated, miniature computers to enhance security and improve PC performance.”

The new firestick is slightly less powerfull than its predecessor, the pico, due to it’s reduced security load and the original 520Mhz processor, being replaced with a 300Mhz processor.
