Iogear has started to ship its GUWH104KIT wireless USB hub and adapter, which it announced in June 2006. The device can help eliminate wiring in the home without compromising transfer speeds and performance.

The hub will pair wired USB connections with the ability to send information wirelessly across short distances.

The product comprises a router with four wired USB hubs. It enables up to three PCs to connect wirelessly to up to four wired USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices, including printers, drives, scanners, and media players, with speeds up to 480 Mbps.

The hub uses a chipset from Alereon which has been certified by the USB Implementers Forum and is compatible with current and future Certified W-USB devices.

It is also compatible with Windows XP, with Vista support coming this autumn. However it will not work with Mac and Linux operating systems.

Iogear’s GUWH104KIT wireless USB hub is priced at $199.95.
