Compro Technology has launched VideoMate U890, a thumb size USB 2.0 TV Box with a credit card size remote control. The device features a built-in advanced high performance silicon tuner.

It provides powerful features for TV viewing, MPEG-1/2/4 formats scheduled recording, timeshifting, channel surfing, still frame capturing, and also supports universal TV system broadcasting reception (NTSC, PAL, and SECAM) without the need for an external power adaptor. The device produces excellent-quality pictures and has an intuitive software interface. The pen drive size body design (9.4 x 3.2 x 1.8 cm) is in blue and white.

Operation is simple - the device plugs into the high-speed USB 2.0 port of a desktop or laptop PC. Its size means that it can be easily carried along with a laptop and can be placed anywhere without the need to move any other desktop devices. It includes an IR remote control.

VideoMate U890 comes packaged with ComproDTV 3 software, which allows users to watch TV shows in a window or full screen mode, use advanced PIP/POP feature to watch TV and playback recorded video files simultaneously. Video Desktop can be used to setup live TV screen in the wallpaper mode, timeshift, channel surf, and capture still frames with hotkey/mouse.

The device allows users to customize color settings, TV system and TV stereo selection in each TV channel and supports MPEG-1/2/4 formats and VCD/SVCD/DVD recording. VideoMate U890 also supports Straight-to-Disc function to direct burn TV shows to DVD, VCD without hard disk buffering, thereby saving time. ComproDVD 2 software is provided to playback CD/DVD discs and media files, Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4 SE to author VCD/DVD titles, and Ulead PhotoExplorer 8.5 SE to manage media files.
