Alereon to demonstrate certified wireless USB module
Permalink: Alereon to demonstrate certified wireless USB module

Fabless semiconductor company, Alereon, Inc., will demonstrate its first worldwide Wireless USB module at CEATEC October 2-6 2007, in Japan.
The module, which was developed by Murata Manufacturing Co Ltd, is TELEC certified, allowing over-the-air operation in band group 6.
Alereon and Murata will demonstrate two Wireless USB modules communicating in band group 6 over the air.
Modules will also be connected to a spectrum analyzer to demonstrate the ability to transmit spectrum across band groups 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6, while receiver sensitivity will be demonstrated through a cabled connection across band groups 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Alereon’s AL5000 chipset transmits and receives WiMedia band groups one, two, three, four, five and six which span frequencies from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz.
Supporting band groups four, five and six (7.4 to 10.6 GHz) enables all 17 channels - providing users in Japan and Korea with comparable performance to applications in the rest of the world.
The chipset will facilitate the production of Certified Wireless USB, Bluetooth or WiMedia mobile devices which can wirelessly transfer data, at USB speeds, and will meet regulations for use around the world.
The chipset will allow research and development, certification, logistics and inventory to be streamlined, providing cost and time-to-market savings.
