WiQuest Communications, Inc. has announced a new Wireless USB Device Embedded Card reference design which allows equipment manufacturers to build Wireless USB solutions with minimal cost and risk.

When used in conjuction with WiQuest’s Wireless USB Adapter, Wireless USB Mini Card or Half Mini Card on the host side, the Device Embedded Card hardware and associated software provide a complete, highly-integrated, end-to-end Certified Wireless USB solution.

The Device Embedded Card is available now, and products featuring the design will be available in 2008.

WiQuest has recorded strong interest from the wireless USB industry in the design, for a wide variety of peripheral and embedded applications.

The reference design kit includes hardware, software, schematics, layout source files, detailed bill-of-materials, design manual, manufacturing test solution, user’s guide and a quick-start guide.

The software package includes complete Device Wire Adapter (DWA) driver/firmware to transform a standard USB peripheral into a Wireless USB peripheral.

A Microsoft Windows-based utility, which supports device discovery, field upgrade functionality, and comprehensive diagnostics, is also included.
