M-Audio is shipping its powerful Fast Track Ultra audio interface - an 8 x 8 audio interface with MIDI, high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity, MX Core DSP mixer and four preamps with Octane technology for exceptional audio clarity.
The USB 2.0 technology provides the bandwidth for 24-bit/96kHz audio resolution throughout the recording and monitoring process.
This increased data speed provides exceptional fidelity on all inputs and outputs simultaneously, together with convenience of USB 2.0 connectivity which is compatible with all current PCs and Macs.
The Fast Track Ultra is the first device to feature the company’s MX Core DSP technology. The MX Core mixer uses eight individual DSP cores to deliver near-zero latency, effects and a matrix for channel routing options.
These are accessible via a control panel which provides a separate mixer for each pair of outputs.
The technology allows reverb to be applied while tracking vocals, and the two independent headphone outputs can be used to create separate monitor mixes when recording multiple musicians, without compromising the computer’s performance.
The mixer allows up to a 16 x 8 configuration. Microphones, synths and other outboard gear can be connected to any of the interface’s hardware inputs. These can then be mixed with the eight audio streams coming from the computer.
The Fast Track Ultra features six channels of analog inputs and outputs plus 2-channel digital S/PDIF I/O.
The device is available for around US$449.95.
