Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system, which is due to be released in October, may be made available on a USB stick.
This will make it easier for owners of netbooks which do not have CD or DVD drives to upgrade to the new OS.
As Windows 7’s predecessor, Vista, wasn’t suitable for Netbooks, Microsoft had to continue selling Windows XP.
If Windows 7 on USB stick fails to materialise, Netbook owners could install the software via an external drive, or could download the software onto their own USB stick, providing Microsoft makes a downloadable version of Windows 7 available.
