Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc, has announced that its new Satellite notebooks feature an innovative Sleep-and-charge USB port, which can be used to charge electronic devices even when the notebook is switched off.

Unlike conventional USB ports, which become dormant when the machine is powered off, Toshiba’s Sleep-and-Charge USB ports will continue to charge and power electronic devices, ensuring that they receive a full charge.

This will be useful to travellers, who want to charge devices such as mobile phones overnight, but don’t want to leave their notebook running.

Toshiba’s re-designed Satellite U400, Satellite M300, Satellite A300 and Satellite P300 models all feature the Sleep-and-Charge USB ports.

The Satellite notebooks will be available from a variety of major consumer electronics and computer stores, or directly from Toshiba at www.toshibadirect.com.
