The Wireless USB 1.1 specification, which will be completed in the first half of 2008, according to an announcement at the Certified Wireless USB Developers Conference in Amsterdam, is expected to incorporate Near Field Communication technology.
Near Field Communication technology allows files from a PC to be automatically downloaded or uploaded simply by passing close by the computer. The technology is used in Transport for London’s Oyster card scheme.
Wireless USB 1.1 is expected to reach transfer speeds of up to 960Mbps. Belkin and Iogear are currently shipping wireless USB hubs which feature the first version of Wireless USB, 1.0.
